It is no longer news that bank customers suffer loss of funds to their banks through excess bank charges with such charges on the increase by the day, and such losses further compounded by lack of reconciliation/knowledge of approved charges and the need to follow up with the concerned banks for recovery, especially in the SME category. The need to reduce this and further improve on coy’s cashflows resulted in creation of a new industry of consultants that specialize in reviewing customers’ accounts and recovering excess bank charges resulting in settled cases of ₦48.58 billion and USD 18.89 million between 2001 – 2015, while a large proportion remained unresolved by companies that are unaware of their rights or without the requisite process.
